On the basis of talks with the Kansai International Airport Environmental Surveillance Organization, which composed of the Osaka Prefectural Government and 9 cities as well as 4 towns in Senshu, the environment items which can be considered as being influenced by the construction were selected, and an 'Environment monitoring plan' specifying the monitoring contents etc. for each environment item was established. Based on this plan, monitoring is carried out in regard to air pollution, water quality, etc., and by comparing the monitoring results with the environment standards etc., it is confirmed that the surrounding environment is not influenced by the construction. Especially in regard to water turbidity and air pollution, control targets have been set, and a system for quick correspondence has been set up for cases where influence by the construction work can be considered. Until now, however, data exceeding the control targets have not been monitored. The monitoring results also are consolidated in monthly and annual reports, which are distributed to the related government agencies etc. and are also available in the Kansai International Airport Environment Center. After the second runaway started operation, the monitoring has been performed based on "Environment monitoring plan for existence & operation" of the airport since August 2007.
